President Tsai Ing-wen has expressed her gratitude for everyone helping to boost Taiwan’s production of surgical masks to combat COVID-19. Her comments came Monday during a visit to a mask production facility in Taoyuan, northern Taiwan.
Tsai said the government has taken multiple steps to ensure that there are enough masks to go around. Those steps include banning mask exports, fixing prices, rationing sales, and boosting mask production.
Taiwan already has 60 new surgical mask production lines up and running, with another 30 to go online by the end of March. President Tsai said that by the end of this week, Taiwan will able to produce ten million masks a day.
