Government on all levels must collaborate to fight coronavirus: Hou

New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi

New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-yi said that the central government and local administrations must work together to fight the novel coronavirus outbreak. He likened fighting disease to battle and said that only by coming together can the government implement effective preventative measures. Hou said information spreads quickly and it’s important to identify and block false outlets.

The mayor said that New Taipei City is following-up on 61 cases that may be novel coronavirus. 20 cases of those cases have already been ruled out. So far, New Taipei City has no confirmed cases of novel coronavirus.

Hou says that there are 17 designated hospitals in New Taipei City tasked with handling cases related to the recent outbreak. Any patient with a fever is immediately sent to one of those hospitals and tested. There are a total of 75 quarantine beds standing-by throughout New Taipei City.
