COVID-19 (06/29): Taiwan reports 42,112 local cases, 85 deaths


Taiwan reported 42,112 new local cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Eighty-five more people have died.

Taichung City recorded the most cases with 6,117. New Taipei City recorded the second most infections with 5,747, followed by Kaohsiung City with 5,139. 

Another 85 people have died from COVID-19. They were aged between 30 to over 90-years-old. Eighty-one of the deceased suffered from chronic illness. Thirty-five were unvaccinated. 

Health authorities also added 227 severe-to-moderate cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. That includes people newly confirmed on Wednesday, as well as cases whose condition have worsened. 

Taiwan also recorded 92 imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
