COVID-19 (06/28): Taiwan reports 44,379 local cases, 103 deaths


Taiwan reported 44,379 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. 103 more people have died.


The highest number of  new cases of COVID are from Taichung, with 6,397 people there testing positive. Another 5,816 have the disease in Kaohsiung, along with 5,653 in New Taipei.


Another 103 people have died from COVID-19. They ranged in age from over 30 to over 90. 97 individuals had chronic illnesses and 36 were unvaccinated.


Out of the 44,379 people confirmed with COVID on Tuesday,  197 have moderate or severe symptoms.


Taiwan also recorded 49 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
