Taiwan’s external trade council, TAITRA, has lifted restrictions on the event industry now that the COVID-19 pandemic has been largely contained in Taiwan. That was the word from TAITRA President Walter Yeh on Thursday.

Yeh said that domestic trade shows, concerts, and exhibits can now be held during the second half of the year. There are already around 50 events of various sizes scheduled to take place in June and July alone. Yeh said that if the pandemic remains under control, revenue from events could rebound by 50-60%.

Domestic events like these account for between 60-70% of the revenue Taiwan’s event industry generates. However, Yeh said that events targeting international buyers will have to wait until international border controls are lifted.
